The Chancellor’s Office will be offering an opportunity for California community college professionals to discuss and design AB705 implementation at their college or district.
The regional convening will focus on highlights and trends from the AB705 implementation plans and provide colleges with a forum to collaborate on implementation challenges and early successes.
Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss strategies to support AB705 implementation, such as retroactive placement or inclusion of counseling staff. Presentations will include a discussion of data collection practices and ways to use data to support a continuous improvement cycle.

In response to stakeholders in the California Community College System, the Board of Governors (BOG) of the California Community Colleges approved and adopted changes in the regulations governing the approval of noncredit curriculum. These actions build upon the foundation and framework to equalize noncredit curriculum approval process to that of credit curriculum approval processes in order to be more responsive to the curricular needs of the students in the California Community College system.

The California Community Colleges is the largest system of higher education in the nation, made up of 73 districts and 115 colleges that serve 2.1 million students annually. The state’s community colleges provide a range of educational needs aimed at supporting Californians’ social and economic mobility, with students seeking to build foundational skills, gain career-related skills to enter or advance in their careers, or earn a degree or transfer to a four-year university.
