Have you ever had trouble hiring industry experts for your classrooms? Solving this issue was one of the recommendations from the Board of Governors Task Force on Workforce, Job Creation and a Strong Economy. After more than 2 years of collaboration with the Academic Senate California Community Colleges and other constituent groups the Career Technical Education Faculty: Minimum Qualifications Tool Kit is ready.
This Tool Kit provides practical information, checklists, history, background, and other important documents all designed to help colleges increase the size of their Career Technical Education (CTE) hiring pools. The Tool Kit is a living document and we welcome your input as we try and keep the content fresh and relevant to the changing landscape of CTE hiring practices.

At an event in Sacramento last week, PPIC researcher Shannon McConville outlined the findings of a new report on career education and economic mobility, and a panel of experts discussed the implications for students, colleges, and the state as a whole. McConville noted that completing a career education credential at a California community college confers a 20% wage gain, on average. But economic benefits vary greatly across program areas.

June 25, 2019 is the last day I will be working as the K – 14 CTE Pathways TAP for the greater Sacramento region, and the last day working for the Los Rios Community College District. A bittersweet day. I am formally retiring from full time work. As most of you know, I spent almost 30 years in the tech industry, working for giants like Atari, Microsoft, HP and Intel. Moving over to the education world 10 years ago was the best thing I have ever done. I have truly enjoyed working every day with community college and high school administrators, faculty/teachers and students. The freedom to be creative and make a difference has brought enormous joy to my life.
And the icing on the cake was working with each and every one of you. Your support, partnership and friendship will never be forgotten. I have the utmost respect for you all, you are the brightest most committed people I have ever worked with. If only the students we serve knew how hard the people behind the scenes work, they would be amazed. You are invisible super hero’s! Our region’s educational system is better because of the work you do.
I will miss working with you and seeing you on a regular basis. As the old slogan goes, “I am just a phone call away”. My contact info: munger.teri@gmail.com, 916-724-9444
